 Reaching Lago Vista by car requires a scenic drive through verdant forests and rolling hills along Route 1431. After arriving in Lago Vista, the shimmering waters of Lake Travis add another dimension of complexity to the scenery. Lago Vista encompasses roughly 15 miles of Lake Travis shoreline, making the lake a nice recreational amenity for residents.
Lago Vista’s public parks are within the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) and are managed by Travis County. One of the largest local sites is the Gloster Bend Recreation Area, 586 acres along Lake Travis’ north shore. Gloster Bend is used primarily for its boat ramp, though horseback riding and picnic facilities are also available. Nearby Arkansas Bend Park is another large site, which offers camping, hiking and fishing. In keeping with the outdoorsy, resort feel of Lago Vista, golf has long been a part of the community. Local courses include The Hills of Lago, Highland Lakes Country Club and Lago Vista Golf Club. Cultural activities include performances by the Lago Vista Players or a visit to the Lago Vista Airpower Museum and Library. The Lago Vista Players is a community theatre group that produces affordable performances and youth drama workshops. The museum caters to military and aircraft enthusiasts, with its collection of model aircraft, guns, medals and photographs related to international conflicts between 1914 and 1990. |
